Dhaka is hosting the South Asia Trade Fair 2025, which kicks off today (Thursday) at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB).
Jointly organised by the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), the four-day event brings together more than 100 businesses from SAARC member countries. Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin will inaugurate the fair at 11:00 am.
The exhibition features a wide array of products, including ready-made garments, textiles, gems and jewellery, cosmetics, leather goods, home appliances, kitchenware, processed food, and electronics. Visitors can attend daily from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm until Sunday.
Alongside the product displays, the fair will host B2B matchmaking sessions, business networking events, and programmes aimed at fostering trust and knowledge-sharing among entrepreneurs across South Asia.
Participants include companies from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan. Organisers say the event is expected to boost regional connectivity and encourage stronger trade relations among SAARC nations.
Despite its vast potential, intra-regional trade within South Asia remains low, accounting for only a fraction of the region’s total commerce. The organisers hope the trade fair will help bridge that gap by showcasing opportunities, rich traditions, and cultural heritage from the participating countries.
