Stocks Edge Higher in Early Trading

DSE gains 14 points, CSE up 71 points in first hour

Indices at both Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges opened higher on Wednesday, buoyed by broad-based buying in the first hour of trading.

At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark DSEX rose 14 points, while the Shariah index DSES edged up 2 points and the blue-chip DS30 gained 1 point. Of the issues traded, 201 advanced, 93 declined and 87 remained unchanged. Turnover crossed Tk 200 crore in the opening hour.

The upbeat mood was mirrored at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), where the key index added 71 points. Among 46 issues traded, 29 gained, 13 lost and 4 stayed flat. Turnover stood at Tk 50 lakh.
