Stocks Open Higher at Week’s Start

DSE and CSE see early gains as trading begins with upbeat investor mood

The country’s stock market opened on a positive note Sunday, with both Dhaka and Chattogram bourses posting modest gains in the first hour of trading.

At the Dhaka Stock Exchange, the benchmark DSEX edged up by 3 points shortly after the session began. The Shariah-based DSES index was unchanged, while the blue-chip DS30 slipped by 1 point. Market activity was brisk, with 162 issues advancing, 137 declining and 67 remaining flat. Turnover crossed Tk 2.40 billion in the opening hour.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange also started higher, gaining 33 points in early trading. Out of 103 traded firms, 46 advanced, 45 declined and 12 held steady. Turnover at the CSE exceeded Tk 50 million in the first hour.

Traders said the early uptick reflects cautious optimism among investors as the week begins.
