Stocks Slip at DSE, CSE in Early Trading

Both bourses open the week on a downward trend as most shares retreat.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) began Monday’s session with a decline, as most listed companies saw their share prices fall within the first hour of trade.

At the DSE, the benchmark DSEX index lost 29 points. The Shariah-based DSES was down 5 points, while the blue-chip DS30 dropped 10 points. Market sentiment remained weak, with 254 issues declining against only 71 advancing; 56 remained unchanged.

Turnover crossed Tk 2.10 billion during the first half of the session, reflecting cautious trading activity.

The bearish trend mirrored at the CSE, where the broad index shed 13 points in early trade. Prices fell for 65 companies, while 36 advanced and 9 remained unchanged. Turnover at the port-city bourse stood at Tk 14 million.
