The country’s stock market opened the week on a soft note, with both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) sliding during the first hour of trading on Sunday.
At the DSE, the benchmark DSEX index fell by 7 points, while the Shariah-compliant DSES lost 3 points. The blue-chip DS30 also declined by 8 points. Market breadth remained weak as most shares traded lower—200 issues declined, 116 advanced and 56 remained unchanged.
Turnover at the DSE crossed Tk 1.60 billion during the first half of the session.
The downtrend was mirrored at the CSE, where the broad index dropped 8 points in early trading. Of the traded issues, 48 declined, 35 gained and 7 stayed unchanged. Turnover on the bourse stood at Tk 41 million.
Overall, early session data signalled a cautious mood across investors as the market continued to face selling pressure.
