Trading at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) opened with a modest rise in all key indices on Tuesday, the third working day of the week, though turnover fell sharply compared to the previous session.
By 11:00am, total turnover stood at Tk 121 crore, down more than Tk 54 crore from Tk 175 crore recorded in the same period a day earlier.
Market data show that the DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, gained 11 points to reach 5,348. The Shariah index, DSES, inched up 2 points to 1,115, while the blue-chip DS30 index edged higher by 1 point to 2,072.
Of the 376 issues traded in the first hour, prices of 221 advanced, 69 declined, and 86 remained unchanged.
Summit Alliance Port Ltd dominated early trading, with shares worth Tk 8.14 crore changing hands. In contrast, Trust Islami Life Insurance Ltd topped the turnover chart in the first hour on Monday with transactions worth Tk 18.12 crore.
