Trading at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) started on a weaker note on Thursday, the last working day of the week, with all major indices edging down and turnover falling below the previous day’s level.
By 11:00am, total turnover stood at Tk 151.94 crore, down by more than Tk 56 crore from Tk 208.13 crore recorded at the same time on Wednesday.
Market data show the benchmark DSEX index shed 15 points to 5,477, while the DS30, comprising blue-chip stocks, dropped 9 points to 2,118. The DSES Shariah index fell 5 points to 1,186.
Out of 382 securities traded during the first hour, prices rose for 90, declined for 213, and remained unchanged for 79.
Khans Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries topped the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 8.37 crore changing hands in the opening hour. On Wednesday, Sea Pearl Beach Resort & Spa had led the list with Tk 12.79 crore in trades.
