The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has set up e-Return Help Desks in all tax zones across Bangladesh to assist taxpayers in submitting their income tax returns online smoothly and conveniently.
The initiative follows the formal inauguration of the e-Return submission system for the 2025–26 tax year by Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed on August 4, 2025. Taxpayers can now file returns through the dedicated portal www.etaxnbr.gov.bd.
According to an NBR press release, around 2.92 million taxpayers have registered with the e-Return system, and 635,000 have already submitted their returns online for the current tax year.
Taxpayers facing difficulties in online registration or submission may apply to their respective Deputy Commissioner of Taxes by October 31, 2025, with valid reasons. Upon approval from the Additional or Joint Commissioner, they will be allowed to submit paper returns.
To support users, the NBR is also offering online training sessions for taxpayers and practitioners. Registration is available via this link, and so far, about 15,000 taxpayers have received training.
For technical assistance, NBR has introduced a dedicated call centre at 09643 71 71 71, while written queries can be submitted via the eTax Service option on the portal.
Taxpayers can now pay taxes digitally using bank transfers, debit or credit cards, or mobile financial services such as bKash, Rocket, or Nagad. Upon successful payment, they can instantly download the acknowledgement slip and generate their income tax certificate automatically.
No physical documents are required during the filing process, though taxpayers must retain supporting papers for verification if needed.
NBR urged all eligible taxpayers to file their returns online within the deadline, accurately declaring income, expenditure, assets, and liabilities, as part of their civic responsibility.
