Stocks in Bangladesh edged up in early trading on Monday, with both the Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges showing modest gains in the first half of the session.
At the Dhaka Stock Exchange, the benchmark DSEX and the Shariah-based DSES each added 1 point, while the blue-chip DS30 slipped slightly. Out of the traded issues, 207 companies advanced, 97 declined and 78 remained unchanged. Turnover at the premier bourse crossed Tk 2.25 billion during the first half of trading.
The Chattogram Stock Exchange also followed a positive trend. Its key index CASPI rose by 1 point, with 34 stocks gaining, an equal number losing ground and 13 remaining unchanged. Turnover at the port city bourse stood at over Tk 26 million in the same period.
