Bangladesh’s four licensed telecommunications tower companies have officially launched the Bangladesh TowerCo Association, a unified industry platform aimed at strengthening regulatory engagement, promoting infrastructure standards, and accelerating growth in the telecom sector.

The announcement was made during the TowerCo Build Forward Forum 2025, where industry leaders, regulators, and stakeholders convened to discuss policy reform, infrastructure resilience, and collaborative ecosystem development.

Currently, TowerCos enable over 90 percent of the country’s mobile network coverage, underscoring their critical role in national connectivity.

Sunil Issac, Managing Director of Edotco Bangladesh, emphasized the importance of regulatory clarity and ecosystem alignment in attracting strategic investment. “With the right enablers in place, the TowerCo sector can accelerate national coverage and reduce the overall cost of digital access,” he said.

Md Serajus Saleheen, CEO of Frontier Towers, noted that the Association will serve as a unified voice and technical resource for the industry, facilitating public-private dialogue and laying the groundwork for a future-ready digital Bangladesh.

The Association is expected to work closely with the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) and the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and ICT, offering input on infrastructure policy, operational standards, and best practices for shared passive infrastructure.

BTRC Chairman Major General (Retd) Md Emdad Ul Bari endorsed the initiative, stating, “The telecom industry cannot work in silos. A unified association will help ensure better policy execution and industry alignment.” He also highlighted BTRC’s commitment to transparency and predictability through the forthcoming Telecommunications Network and Licensing Reform Policy 2025.

Md Noor-A-Alam Siddiqi, CTO of Summit Towers Ltd, also addressed the forum.
