Gold prices in Bangladesh have been cut again, with the price of 22-carat gold falling by Tk 2,216 per bhori to Tk 2,35,146.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) said the new rate took effect at 10:00am on Sunday following a decline in the price of locally traded Tejabi gold.

Under the revised rates, 21-carat gold now costs Tk 2,24,590 per bhori, down Tk 2,100, while the price of 18-carat gold has fallen by Tk 1,750 to Tk 1,92,864. The traditional-method gold price has been reduced by Tk 1,458 to Tk 1,57,522 per bhori.

The prices include value-added tax (VAT).

The latest cut follows a Tk 5,482 increase in the price of 22-carat gold on September 3, which took the rate to Tk 2,37,362 per bhori. Before that, BAJUS had reduced gold prices three times on August 29, August 31 and September 2.

Silver prices, meanwhile, remained unchanged.

A bhori of 22-carat silver jewellery is priced at Tk 5,132, including VAT. The rates for 21-carat, 18-carat and traditional-method silver stand at Tk 4,957, Tk 4,257 and Tk 3,208 per bhori, respectively.
