Mercantile Bank, bKash Ink Deal for 24/7 Automated Cash Management

Mercantile Bank PLC and bKash Limited have signed a strategic agreement to introduce round-the-clock automated cash management services, aiming to strengthen financial efficiency for agents, dealers, and distributors of the country’s largest mobile financial service provider.

The signing ceremony was held on Thursday at the bank’s head office in Dhaka, with Mati Ul Hasan, Managing Director of Mercantile Bank, and Kamal Quadir, CEO of bKash Limited, representing their respective organizations, according to a press release.

Key Service Features

Under the agreement, Mercantile Bank will provide 24/7 automated cash management facilities through its online banking and card services. The system will allow bKash agents and distributors across Bangladesh to access seamless deposit and withdrawal facilities—subject to opening an account with Mercantile Bank.

The initiative is expected to reduce operational bottlenecks in cash handling, ensuring smoother liquidity management for bKash’s vast network that serves millions of customers nationwide.

The event was attended by senior executives from both institutions. From Mercantile Bank, the participants included Md. Zakir Hossain, Shamim Ahmed, Ashim Kumar Saha, and Dr. Md. Zahid Hossain (Deputy Managing Directors); Shah Md. Sohel Khurshid and Mohammad Iqbal Rezwan (Senior Executive Vice Presidents); Abu Yusuf Md. Abdullah Haroon, Head of MIS Division; Muhammad Amir Hossain Sarker, Head of Uttara Branch; Farid Ahmed, Head of Gulshan Branch; Muhammad Mahmud Hasan, CTO; and Tapon James Rozario, Head of ILMD.

From bKash, Moinuddin Mohammed Rahgir, Chief Financial Officer, and Ali Ahmmed, Chief Commercial Officer, were present along with other senior officials.

The partnership underscores the growing collaboration between commercial banks and mobile financial service providers in Bangladesh, reflecting the shift toward automation, digitalization, and cashless transactions. With Mercantile Bank’s infrastructure and bKash’s nationwide reach, industry insiders expect the initiative to streamline fund management processes and enhance financial inclusion.
