The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) aims to complete a series of major capital market reforms within the next two months, Chairman Khondoker Rashed Maqsood announced on Wednesday.

Speaking at a high-level meeting with top brokerage officials at the BSEC Multipurpose Hall in Dhaka, the chairman said the regulator is pressing ahead with reforms to modernize the Margin Rules, Mutual Fund Regulations, IPO Regulations, and Corporate Governance policies.

“All decisions regarding these reforms have been made in a rational and balanced manner,” he said, adding that the BSEC is working to strengthen transparency, accountability, and investor protection while ensuring justice for past irregularities.

Maqsood also highlighted the commission’s efforts to resolve systemic issues such as negative equity, noting that the impact of these initiatives would soon be visible in market performance.

The session served as a platform for in-depth discussions on the current market situation, ongoing regulatory initiatives, and the responsibilities of key stakeholders. Representatives from leading brokerage firms shared proposals aimed at improving market efficiency and security.

BSEC Commissioners Md Mohsin Chowdhury, Md Ali Akbar, Farzana Lalarukh, and Md Saifuddin, along with other senior officials, attended the meeting.
