Bangladesh Bank has confirmed that no significant damage occurred in the recent fire incident at Sena Kalyan Bhaban, which took place last Thursday night (July 17). The central bank stated that all important documents, cabinets, computers, and printers located on the affected floor remain intact.

On Sunday (July 20), Bangladesh Bank Spokesperson Arif Hossain Khan briefed reporters on the matter.

“The fire broke out on a vacant floor during the holiday. Fortunately, there was no major damage. Everything on that floor is unharmed,” he said.

Final Use of Floor to Resume After Safety Clearance

Khan added that the Fire Service and Civil Defence has already initiated a formal investigation. The bank will resume use of the affected floor only after receiving the final investigation report and confirmation of fire safety compliance.

“Operations at the central bank continue as usual,” he assured.

The fire incident occurred on a floor of Sena Kalyan Bhaban that housed one of Bangladesh Bank’s departments. Multiple units of the fire service responded swiftly and managed to bring the blaze under control before it could spread.

While the incident initially caused concern within the banking community, prompt action by the authorities helped avert any major disruption or loss.
