Bangladesh Bank has appointed an observer at Islami Bank PLC as part of ongoing measures to reinforce good governance and transparency in the banking sector.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the central bank said its Executive Director Mohammad Ashraful Alam has been assigned as the observer under the Bank Company Act, 1991.
As part of his role, the observer will attend key activities of the bank, including meetings of the board of directors. He will also monitor both regular and strategic operations of Islami Bank PLC and submit regular reports to Bangladesh Bank.
The appointment comes amid broader regulatory steps to strengthen oversight in the banking sector and ensure improved transparency in decision-making and governance practices.
