The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association has urged its members to actively promote the upcoming referendum by displaying awareness banners at factory premises.
In a circular issued on January 6, the apparel apex body asked all garment factories to place two vertical banners at the entrance of each unit and at their head offices. The directive followed an instruction from the Chief Adviser’s Office a day earlier.
According to the circular, the banners are intended to raise public awareness among voters ahead of the referendum linked to the 13th national election, scheduled for February 12, 2026.
The banners will highlight proposed constitutional reforms and carry messages encouraging participation, including: “Vote ‘yes’ to get everything mentioned above; vote ‘no’ to get nothing. For change vote ‘yes’.”
BGMEA said the initiative aims to ensure visibility of the referendum message across the garment sector, one of the country’s largest employers, in the run-up to the vote.
