The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has congratulated BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on the party’s landslide victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

In a message issued on Saturday, BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan said the Bangladesh Nationalist Party secured more than a two-thirds majority under the “unique and visionary leadership” of Tarique Rahman.

“On behalf of BGMEA, I convey our sincere and heartfelt congratulations to you and to leaders and activists of all levels of the party for this unprecedented and sweeping victory,” the message said.

The association described the electoral mandate as a reflection of public aspirations to safeguard democratic continuity and build a prosperous, equitable Bangladesh. It termed the outcome an “unforgettable milestone” in the country’s democratic journey.

Looking ahead, BGMEA expressed confidence that the new leadership would help position Bangladesh as a stronger and more respected economic force globally.

Highlighting the ready-made garment (RMG) sector as the backbone of the economy, the association said the industry stands at a critical juncture, particularly after the country’s graduation from the least developed country (LDC) category.

“The RMG sector is facing multifaceted global challenges following Bangladesh’s graduation from the LDC category. Ensuring sustainable growth will require pragmatic policy measures, stable energy supply and strategic trade support,” the message added.

BGMEA called for visionary policy backing and a business-friendly environment to tackle post-LDC challenges, ensure uninterrupted energy security and maintain Bangladesh’s competitiveness in the global apparel market.

The association voiced optimism that with government support, the sector could achieve its target of raising garment exports to $100 billion by 2030 and further strengthen the global standing of the “Made in Bangladesh” brand.

It also congratulated BGMEA members elected to the Jatiya Sangsad, expressing hope that their role in parliament would help address sectoral challenges and reinforce overall economic stability.

Concluding the message, BGMEA wished Tarique Rahman good health and continued success in leading the nation.
