Adopting circular economy practices could accelerate Bangladesh’s industrial productivity and long-term economic growth, experts said at a seminar in Dhaka on Wednesday.

The dialogue, organised by the FBCCI Innovation and Research Centre (FBCCI-IRC) and UNDP, brought together policymakers, business leaders, and development partners to discuss ways to embed sustainable practices in industry and exports.

Industries Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, attending as chief guest, called the circular economy “vital for gearing up the economy and industrial productivity,” urging all stakeholders to collaborate in expanding exports and growth through sustainable models.

FBCCI-IRC chairman Md Jashim Uddin stressed the need for more research, while UNDP’s Sardar M Asaduzzaman highlighted ongoing joint efforts with FBCCI-IRC to reform waste management, expand circular models, and promote sustainable businesses.

The event also saw the Coca-Cola Foundation award Tk 5 million to ten start-ups for eco-friendly innovations, each receiving Tk 0.5 million in seed funding.

Speakers noted that joint initiatives by government, private sector, and international partners are already shaping a roadmap for Bangladesh to integrate circular economy practices into its industrial strategy.
