Chittagong Port maintained steady operations during the Eid holidays, handling 54,898 TEUs of containers between March 17 and 23.
Of the total, 28,961 TEUs were import containers, while 25,937 TEUs were meant for export, reflecting continued trade flow despite the holiday slowdown.
The port recorded its busiest day on March 18, processing 11,861 containers. Overall, it handled more than 2.5 million metric tonnes of cargo during the period.
Vessel activity also remained robust, with 64 ships berthed and handled over the holidays. The highest number—14 ships—was processed on March 19. Full-scale operations resumed immediately after the break, with 12 ships handled on March 23.
To ensure smooth supply of fuel and essential goods, authorities formed a special task force during Ramadan and Eid.
“The port remained open during the Eid holidays, with operations suspended only for a few hours on Eid day. Fuel handling is continuing smoothly to support the supply chain,” said a port official.
The performance highlights the port’s ability to sustain logistics and trade operations even during extended holidays, helping keep supply chains intact.
