Partnership aims to boost governance, efficiency in capital market

The DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh (DBA) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Japan Securities Dealers Association (JSDA), marking its first formal partnership with an international self-regulatory organisation.

The memorandum of understanding, signed on April 9, is seen as a milestone in efforts to align Bangladesh’s capital market with global standards.

Under the agreement, the two organisations will work together on regulatory knowledge exchange, strengthening governance frameworks, and improving compliance and supervision in financial markets. The partnership will also focus on enhancing transaction efficiency, promoting innovation in financial products, and expanding investor education.

DBA President Saiful Islam said the collaboration would help modernise the market structure and build institutional capacity. “This is a significant step towards a more transparent, efficient and investor-friendly capital market,” he said.

He added that the partnership would support the adoption of international best practices and foster a more organised market ecosystem.

The JSDA, a key player in regional capital markets, operates the Asia Securities Forum—where DBA has been an active member since 2023—providing a platform for knowledge-sharing across the Asia-Pacific region.
