Stocks on the Dhaka bourse edged higher in morning trade today, recovering from the previous session’s losses.
By 11:52 am, the DSEX, the benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), had gained 29.75 points, or 0.52 per cent, to settle at 5,644.03.
The upward momentum was broad-based. The Shariah-compliant DSES rose 0.23 per cent to 1,232.93, while the blue-chip DS30 advanced 0.40 per cent to 2,191.57.
Turnover stood at Tk 678.51 crore, reflecting improved investor participation.
Market breadth was positive, with 257 issues advancing, 93 declining, and 45 remaining unchanged.
Rupali Life Insurance led the gainers’ list with a 9 per cent jump, while Shyampur Sugar Mills shed 5 per cent, the steepest fall so far.
