Gold prices in Bangladesh have fallen once more, following a revision by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS). The price of 22-carat gold has been reduced by Tk 1,575, bringing it down to Tk 170,551 per bhori (approximately 11.66 grams) from the previous rate of Tk 172,126.
In a notice issued on Monday, July 7, BAJUS said the new pricing would take effect from Tuesday. The adjustment reflects a decline in local market prices of “acid gold” (pure gold), according to the association.
Before this latest change, 22-carat gold was priced at Tk 172,126 per bhori, while 21-carat stood at Tk 164,299, 18-carat at Tk 140,831, and traditional method gold at Tk 116,488. In the earlier cycle, 22-carat gold was selling at Tk 170,236, 21-carat at Tk 162,503, 18-carat at Tk 139,292, and traditional method gold at Tk 115,170.
Despite the decline in gold prices, silver rates remain steady. Per bhori, 22-carat silver is priced at Tk 2,578, 21-carat at Tk 2,449, 18-carat at Tk 2,111, and traditional method silver at Tk 1,586.
The latest price cut comes amid fluctuating gold prices in the local and international markets, offering some relief to consumers ahead of the upcoming festive season.
