old prices in Bangladesh rebounded on Wednesday, just days after a sharp cut, as jewellers adjusted rates in response to rising costs in the local market.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) increased the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,216 per bhori, setting the new rate at Tk 2,50,193, effective immediately.

In a statement, BAJUS said the revision reflects an increase in the price of pure (tejabi) gold in the domestic market.

Under the new pricing, 21-carat gold will be sold at Tk 2,38,820 per bhori, 18-carat at Tk 2,04,703, and traditional-method gold at Tk 1,66,737 (1 bhori = 11.664 grams).

The latest hike comes a week after BAJUS slashed gold prices by Tk 4,432 per bhori on April 9, highlighting continued volatility in the market.

So far this year, gold prices have been revised 55 times—rising on 32 occasions and falling on 23—reflecting frequent adjustments in line with global and local trends.

Silver prices also moved higher. BAJUS raised the rate by Tk 350 per bhori, setting the price of 22-carat silver at Tk 6,065.

Other silver rates now stand at Tk 5,774 for 21-carat, Tk 4,957 for 18-carat, and Tk 3,732 for traditional silver.

Silver prices have been revised 34 times in 2026 so far, with 19 increases and 15 decreases, mirroring the broader fluctuations in the precious metals market.
