Japan has invited Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to visit at a mutually convenient time, reaffirming its commitment to strengthen ties with Bangladesh.

The invitation was conveyed by Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Shinichi Saida during a meeting with Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman at the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday. State Minister Shama Obaed Islam, senior advisers, and top officials from multiple ministries also attended.

The discussions focused on the Employment Skill Development Programme (ESDP), including skills training and Japanese language preparation for Bangladeshi workers. Dr Khalilur Rahman proposed a digital matchmaking platform to connect skilled workers with Japanese employers.

The talks also covered defense procurement, metro rail cooperation, and mutual support in international forums. Earlier, the Ambassador met with State Minister Shama Obaed Islam, who praised Japan’s longstanding support and its help on the Rohingya issue.

“This visit will further deepen cooperation and explore new areas of partnership between our countries,” said the Foreign Minister.
