Bangladesh’s stock markets opened on a mixed note on Tuesday, with the Dhaka Stock Exchange showing early strength while the Chittagong Stock Exchange moved slightly lower in the first half of the session.
At the DSE, the benchmark DSEX index rose by 12 points, supported by modest gains across major segments. The Shariah-based DSES advanced 2 points, while the blue-chip DS30 index added 1 point.
Market breadth remained positive in Dhaka, as share prices of 213 listed companies moved up, against 102 that declined and 72 that remained unchanged. Turnover during the period stood at Tk 2.60 billion, reflecting moderate trading activity.
In contrast, the CSE’s overall CASPI index slipped by 2 points in early trading. Despite the marginal decline in the index, market participation was relatively balanced, with 42 stocks gaining, 30 losing and 15 remaining unchanged.
The port city bourse recorded a turnover of Tk 40 million in the first half of the session, indicating a cautious start to the day’s trading.
