NBR Links ASYCUDA with BGMEA e-UD Platform

Real-time integration aims to speed up customs clearance and modernise bond management

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has integrated its ASYCUDA World system with the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association’s electronic Utilisation Declaration (e-UD) platform, marking a major step toward faster and more transparent customs procedures for export-oriented industries.

The integration took effect on January 11, 2026, as part of the government’s broader push to digitise bond management, improve valuation of bonded raw materials and exports, and strengthen transparency and accountability in customs operations.

Officials said the move eliminates long-standing procedural bottlenecks caused by manual verification of utilisation declarations and reliance on BGMEA’s standalone system. Previously, such manual checks often delayed cargo clearance and complicated regulatory oversight.

Under the new arrangement, UD verification is now conducted fully online and in real time through ASYCUDA World, significantly reducing paperwork and operational risks.

The NBR said the integration is expected to deliver multiple benefits, including quicker clearance of import and export consignments, reduced dependence on physical documents, stronger revenue protection and risk control, and a more efficient, technology-driven bond management framework.

Following the successful pilot phase, the NBR plans to gradually roll out automated e-UD write-off procedures, further streamlining operations in bonded warehouses.

Jointly implemented by the NBR and BGMEA, the initiative is seen as a key milestone in moving toward a paperless customs environment. Officials said the system will help cut lead times, improve ease of doing business and enhance Bangladesh’s competitiveness in the global apparel market through faster and more reliable customs processing.
