Inflow up 11.6% year-on-year; $4.56b arrives in first two months of FY26

Bangladesh received $2.087 billion in remittances in the first 27 days of August, central bank data shows. At the current exchange rate of Tk122 per dollar, the amount stands at nearly Tk25,461 crore.

The inflow is $116 million higher than the same period last year when migrant workers sent $1.971 billion.

According to Bangladesh Bank’s spokesperson, remittance in July–August (up to 27th) reached $4.565 billion, marking a 17.5% growth compared to $3.885 billion during the same period of FY25.

In July alone, remittance stood at $2.478 billion. However, eight banks reported no inflow that month.

Remittance inflow hit a record $3.29 billion in March 2025, the highest monthly figure in the country’s history. The total remittance for FY25 stood at $30.33 billion, up 26.8% from $23.91 billion in FY24.

Analysts attribute the steady growth to government incentives and smoother transfer channels for expatriates.
