Sheikh Rakibul Karim, FCA, has been appointed as the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Guardian Life Insurance Limited, following approval from the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA).
Before this assignment, he served as additional managing director and acting chief executive officer of the insurance company.
Mr Karim joined the company in 2019 as Chief Financial Officer, and later took on senior leadership responsibilities, including the role of Acting Chief Executive Officer.
During his tenure, Guardian has reinforced compliance and governance, advanced digital transformation, and expanded its customer base to 12.8 million policyholders, with strong positions in bancassurance, digital, and microinsurance segments, says a media release.
Before joining Guardian, he was director of audit & advisory services at KPMG Bangladesh and held senior leadership roles at Grameenphone and Banglalink.
A chartered accountant and fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), he is widely recognised for his strategic insight and inclusive leadership.
With this appointment, Guardian Life Insurance aims to further strengthen innovation, financial inclusion, and long-term value creation for customers and stakeholders across the country.
