Stocks opened higher on Wednesday, extending the previous day’s gains as renewed investor participation drove broad-based buying in undervalued blue-chip shares.
Market analysts said opportunistic investors returned to the market, encouraged by attractive valuations, though caution persists due to ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. The improved activity reflects a degree of optimism, tied to hopes of economic stabilisation if global uncertainties ease.
The benchmark index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange rose by over 56 points, or 1.07 per cent, to 5,313 in early trading.
The blue-chip index also advanced by 26 points to 2,000, while the Shariah-based index gained 10 points to 1,072.
Turnover increased to Tk 3.50 billion, signalling stronger market activity.
Gainers dominated the trading floor, with 316 issues advancing against 29 decliners, while 40 remained unchanged.
Monno Fabrics led the turnover chart, followed by Dominage Steels, Agni Systems and Summit Alliance Port.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange also mirrored the upbeat trend, with its key indices posting notable gains in early trading.
