Bangladesh’s stock market opened on a positive note on Thursday, the final trading day of the week, as key indices of both the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) posted early gains, supported by buying interest in most sectors.

In the first half of the session, the benchmark DSEX advanced by 16 points. The Shariah-based DSES and the blue-chip DS30 index also moved up by 3 points each.

Market breadth on the DSE remained firmly positive, with prices of 218 issues rising against declines by 85, while 83 stocks remained unchanged. Turnover stood at Tk 230 crore, reflecting steady participation by investors.

On the CSE, the broad-based CASPI index added 18 points in early trading. Prices of 46 shares gained, while 24 declined and 10 remained unchanged. The port city bourse recorded a turnover of Tk 1.5 crore during the period.

The early upward momentum signalled cautious optimism among investors ahead of the weekend.
