Stocks edge up in early trade

DSE sees modest gain, CSE follows suit

Bangladesh’s stock markets opened slightly higher on Sunday, with most shares edging up in the first hour of trading.

At the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), the benchmark DSEX index rose by 7 points while the blue-chip DS30 gained 9 points. The Shariah index DSES, however, was almost unchanged.

Market data showed mixed movement — out of the issues traded, 182 advanced, 158 declined, and 520 remained flat. Turnover stood at over Tk400 crore during the opening hour.

The uptrend was mirrored at the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), where the CASPI index gained 33 points. Here, 64 issues advanced, 34 declined, and 8 remained unchanged, with about Tk2 crore worth of shares changing hands.
