The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) snapped its six-day winning streak today as turnover declined, reflecting a cooling of investor sentiment after the recent rally.
The benchmark DSEX index edged down by 1.6 points, or 0.03%, to close at 5,066.43. In contrast, the Shariah-compliant DSES rose by 0.19% to 1,103.06, while the blue-chip DS30 index remained largely flat, slipping 0.02% to 1,908.57.
Daily turnover, a key indicator of market activity, dropped to Tk 665.99 crore from Tk 679.02 crore in the previous session. The session saw 207,206 trades executed, with block transactions totalling Tk 33.80 crore across 33 scrips.
Market breadth reflected a mixed mood: out of traded securities, 177 advanced, 170 declined, and 55 closed unchanged. Among A-category shares, 98 gained while 96 fell; B-category stocks saw 32 gainers and 42 losers, while the N-category recorded a single gainer.
Sector-wise performance mirrored this cautious tone. Among mutual funds, 10 issues advanced and 13 fell. The corporate bond segment had two gainers and one loser, while government bonds saw broader weakness, with three issues declining and only one gaining.
On the day’s individual performers, Bangladesh Finance topped the gainers’ list with a 10% rise, whereas Rupali Bank registered the steepest fall, shedding 6%.
Despite the pause, analysts note the market remains resilient after its recent streak, with investor interest still evident across select segments.
