A United States Coast Guard team has given Chattogram Port a clean bill of health after reviewing its compliance with the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code, reinforcing the port’s standing in global maritime trade.

The inspection resulted in zero observations, indicating that the country’s main seaport is effectively implementing the international security framework.

“Our port is ISPS Code-compliant. The US Coast Guard delegation carried out a periodic inspection of our security measures and did not raise any observation,” said Chittagong Port Authority Secretary Omar Faruk.

The US team visited the port on January 21–22 as part of routine international assessments that evaluate how ports worldwide apply the ISPS Code.

Faruk said the ISPS Code, developed by the International Maritime Organization, is a global security standard designed to safeguard ports and ships while ensuring the smooth flow of international trade.

The USCG report also commended the security measures in place across the port area, underscoring Chattogram Port’s preparedness to meet international maritime security requirements.
