Zant Accessories Limited is set to invest Tk 800 million in the National Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) in Chattogram, expanding its manufacturing footprint with an export-oriented industrial project.

The foam manufacturer will set up a production facility on five acres of land to produce polyurethane and polyethylene foam, recycled foam, mattresses, pillows, comforters and shoe insoles. A land lease agreement was signed on Wednesday between the company and the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority.

Under the project plan, the new unit will be environmentally friendly, using comparatively less water and electricity and requiring no gas. Commercial production is scheduled to begin in May 2027.

Zant Accessories already operates a factory at the Karnaphuli Export Processing Zone and plans to source about 90 per cent of its raw materials from China, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia, while producing finished goods locally.

The investment is expected to create new employment opportunities and provide a boost to export earnings, while strengthening Bangladesh’s competitiveness in the global market through modern technology and quality production.

Congratulating the company, BEZA’s executive member for investment development said the project reflects the authority’s push for green, export-oriented industries and is likely to attract more investors to the NSEZ.

BEZA officials said around 17 industrial enterprises are currently operating in the zone, with another 24 under construction.
