German optical leader ZEISS has entered Bangladesh with a mission to digitise the country’s eye care sector, aiming to modernise services and raise industry standards.
Through its ZEISS Vision Center in Gulshan, Dhaka, the company is offering advanced diagnostic tools, precision prescriptions, and customised eyewear solutions that redefine the patient experience while opening new investment opportunities in a sector historically dominated by traditional shops and generic services.
Bangladesh’s vision care market has long struggled with unreliable solutions and the prevalence of replicas, often forcing patients to seek premium services abroad. ZEISS aims to change that by introducing global standards, digital precision, and lifestyle-optimised eyewear.
Equipped with technologies such as the i.Profiler plus and VISUFIT 1000, the centre provides diagnostic accuracy down to a fraction of a millimetre, enabling lenses tailored for prolonged screen use, digital fatigue, and night driving.
Minhaj Hossain, Managing Director of ZEISS Vision Center by Opsis Vision Care Limited Bangladesh, emphasised the need for authentic eyewear that ensures safety, comfort, and long-term eye health. He added that if the market embraces ZEISS technology and services, the company may consider further investment in Bangladesh, including local manufacturing.
The centre also contributes to the economy by creating skilled jobs in optometry, customer service, and retail management, while reducing the need for overseas travel for premium eye care. Its presence encourages healthy competition, attracts investment, and sets a benchmark for quality and transparency.
