A fresh consignment of diesel has arrived at Chattogram Port, as authorities move to stabilise fuel supply amid ongoing disruptions linked to the Middle East conflict.
The vessel MT Yuan Jing He, carrying 27,300 tonnes of diesel from Singapore, berthed at the port’s Dolphin Jetty on Friday afternoon. Officials from the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) were present to inspect the shipment upon arrival.
This marks the ninth diesel-laden vessel to reach the port since the outbreak of the regional conflict, underscoring efforts to maintain steady fuel supply through diversified sourcing.
In addition to diesel, two large vessels carrying liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) have also arrived at the port’s outer anchorage, further supporting the country’s energy needs.
BPC officials said the government has taken proactive steps to import fuel from alternative sources outside the Middle East, alongside existing supply arrangements, to ensure uninterrupted distribution across the country.
The latest arrivals come as Bangladesh seeks to cushion the impact of global energy market volatility and secure adequate fuel supplies for domestic demand.
