The three-day “15th Winter Education Festival 2026” will begin on January 8 at the initiative of Gendaria Shishu Kanan Playground. The colourful event will be held on January 8, 9 and 10 at the Gendaria Shishu Kanan Playground premises in Old Dhaka.
The main objective of the festival is to foster the development of talent among children aged 4 to 18 and to instil discipline and teamwork among them.
This year, participating children have been divided into two groups named after two great Bangladeshi scientists—Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose and Scientist Satyendra Nath Bose. Through this naming, efforts have been made to highlight the glorious history of scientific research in Bengal for the new generation.
The festival will formally begin on Thursday (January 8) at 7:30 am with the hoisting of the national flag and the national anthem. The chief guest of the inaugural ceremony will be Ms. Rubana Akhtar, Commandant, RRF, Mill Barrack, Dhaka District Police Lines.
On the first day, January 8, competitions will begin with recitation, solo singing, folk songs, elocution, group dance, and various sports events.
On the second day, January 9, competitions will include quiz, drawing, acting, and storytelling. The chief guest of the quiz competition will be Arifatul Hasan, ADC (Wari Division). The most attractive segment of the festival, the “Mabu Jalsa,” will be held on the evening of the second day.
On the third day, January 10, the closing day, competitions will feature classical dance, folk dance, and group acting. In addition, selected children will present a special exhibition titled “Mabu Decoration.”
The festival will conclude with a prize-giving ceremony where winners of the competitions will be awarded. The chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony will be Raiza Chowdhury, recipient of the Bangla Academy Literature Award and a writer of children’s literature. The special guest will be Dr. Arif Mahmud, Chairman, Evercare Hospital.
Dr. Sayyad Hasan Abdullah will serve as the Festival President, while Ehdesham Khan Siddiqui Hridoy will perform duties as the Festival Secretary.
The organisers expressed optimism that this event at Gendaria Shishu Kanan Playground will play a unique role in nurturing children’s creativity and in their social development.
