Gold Prices Ease After Surge

Gold Prices Ease After Surge

Written by The Banking Post

Gold prices in Bangladesh have been lowered following a recent surge, offering slight relief to buyers as market conditions stabilise.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) on Monday reduced the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,158 per bhori, bringing the new rate down to Tk 245,819. The revised prices took immediate effect.

The association said the adjustment was driven by a decline in the price of pure gold in the local market, alongside broader market dynamics.

Under the new pricing structure, 21-carat gold now costs Tk 234,621 per bhori, while 18-carat gold has been set at Tk 201,146. Gold produced through traditional methods is priced at Tk 163,821 per bhori.

The latest revision comes just days after BAJUS raised gold prices on April 1, when the rate for 22-carat gold was increased significantly.

So far this year, gold prices have been revised 52 times, reflecting continued volatility in the market, with more increases than cuts.

Silver prices have also been reduced. The rate for 22-carat silver dropped by Tk 175 to Tk 5,540 per bhori. Prices for other categories have been adjusted downward as well.

Market insiders say frequent price adjustments highlight ongoing fluctuations in the precious metals market, influenced by both domestic factors and global trends.
