Bangladesh will participate in 50 international trade fairs across 27 countries in the 2026-27 fiscal year as part of a government drive to diversify export markets, promote priority products and support emerging exporters.
The Ministry of Commerce approved the plan at the 149th meeting of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Board of Directors, chaired by Commerce Minister and EPB Board Chairman Khandaker Abdul Muktadir.
The initiative aims to promote products from 12 priority sectors and expand Bangladesh’s global export footprint.
The minister said the government has launched a series of measures to create a more business-friendly environment and attract new investment.
He said efforts are underway to simplify business start-up and operational procedures, with visible improvements expected within the next two to three months.
“We will witness another positive transformation under the current leadership in the days ahead, Inshallah,” he said.
“The government is working to promote economic growth, generate new investment and expand business activities. Beyond policy commitments, concrete measures are being taken to create an enabling environment for investment.”
Highlighting export potential, the minister said sectors such as leather, agro-processing and light engineering could achieve double-digit growth and become major export earners.
He also stressed the need to help new entrepreneurs and start-ups access international markets through overseas trade fairs and buyer engagement.
“Many of today’s leading exporters started on a small scale,” he said, adding that government support is essential as many new businesses lack the financial capacity to explore foreign markets.
The EPB, he added, will play a more active role in supporting emerging exporters.
The board also approved the international trade fair calendar for FY27 and the steering committee for the 31st Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) 2027, tentatively scheduled to begin on January 1, 2027.
It also decided in principle to lease out the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Centre (BCFEC).
The meeting was attended by Commerce Secretary Md Ataur Rahman Khan, EPB Vice-Chairman Mohammad Hasan Arif, Additional Secretary (FTA) Ayesha Akter and other board members.
